About me

I am EzTwit on Twitter. I am NOT on Twitter to engage in sparing matches with mental inferiors. Nor am I there to be a punching bag for anyone who may not be having a good day. As the name "Social Network" implies, I am there to be social. If you have decided to hit me with a drive by, well, live by the sword and die by the sword. I don't like to block people, though a few have made that distinction with me. However, I mute assholes quite freely.

From Twitter:
Just another tweep with opinions no one wants to hear. Physical & Digital Security are my passion. & ⬅  that last one means I'm WAY left)
Please note the use of the verb twit from DailyWritingTips.com:
The unabridged online OED I use gives this as the first definition:
twit transitive verb: To blame, find fault with, censure, reproach, upbraid (a person), especially in a light or annoying way; to cast an imputation upon; to taunt.
The OED app on my phone gives this definition:
twit (twits, twitting, twitted) verb: tease or taunt (someone), especially in a good-humoured way.
So, I tend to find fault and tease in good humor.

I am NOT on Twitter for commercial reasons. I do not buy nor sell followers. I am not here to buy nor sell stuff nor services. I am here primarily to stay abreast of news and politics and to state my unfiltered mind. If you do not like what I say (or don't say), please feel free to move along. You may even block or mute me. I am sure I will likely never notice.

I DO use some automation. I have a bot that automatically welcomes you as a follower. This is NOT so I can ignore you but, to the contrary, is to ensure that you are not overlooked. I also use an app to assist me with Follow Friday (#FF). And lastly, I use an app to help me watch my new followers and recent unfollowers. I do have a life outside Twitter, am an old fart, and need all the help I can get remembering my friends and followers so I, hopefully, won't overlook anyone.

So, on with my introductions...

My name is Francis Nathan Bruce. Since I have three first names, I prefer to go by F.N. Bruce - or effin Bruce. I am also The Heartland Heretic with a blog named Surviving Christianity.

I was born here in the Heartland. I never really fit in here... and still don't. But, as the saying goes, no matter where you go, there you are. I couldn't be more different than those I live near... and couldn't be happier about it. They're rednecks and hillbillies. Some of them are pretty nice people, but they're still rednecks and hillbillies. And they're proud of it.

Most of my contemporaries are Republicans. I am an anarchist. I am so far to the left that there is not even a political party in the United States that I would fit into. According to PoliticalCompass.org, I am farther left than The Dali Lama or Gandhi!

However, I loathe the whole left/right, the liberal/conservative, Democrat/Republican paradigm. None of these labels actually mean much of anything specifically. It's like joining some club in which you have to accept all of their values. To my mind there is only one club: the fellowship of mankind. Those other clubs are just ways with which to divide us.

I could go into a long diatribe about my political views, but the truth is my views are malleable and I'm not sure that I even understand them. I do know that right and wrong is subjective.

I spent four years in the United States Marine Corp. My job was in data processing. I worked, for a time, with G2 in that capacity. I have worked at banks, in construction, in agriculture, electronics, drafting, upholstery, and more. I have worked on the construction of several waste water treatment plants, schools, incinerators, and many commercial and residential projects, as well.

I studied Human Services and Addiction Studies at St. Louis Community College. I worked with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the City of St. Louis, the University of Missouri, and the federal government on substance abuse, mental health, infectious disease, and health outcomes. I was a political appointee of Mayor Francis Slay of St. Louis, MO.

So, I find it irksome when someone questions my patriotism and service to my fellow man. I have a great capacity for discussion and compromise. I have a zero tolerance for assholes. I served my country, state, and city - and I fought for your right to be an asshole. But I am under no obligation nor duty to put up with your antisocial behavior. That's why I left Human Services and politics; I don't enjoy being a punching bag for dysfunctional douches. If you have mommy or daddy issues, I strongly suggest that you go get counseling or a therapist. I am not the one. Respect is neither deserved nor given as a result of your real or imagined deserving qualities or positions. It is earned. Pure and simple.

I am literally surrounded by very nice people who have been brainwashed to believe that the only way they can be a good Christian is to be a political conservative. It truly pains me that they believe this way. If they could only eek open their steel trap minds enough to recognize that their savior was the revolutionary renegade liberal of His day and that the people He loathed most were the Pharisees, the conservatives of His day. I try to practice tolerance and understanding, given my social situation. But it's hard sometimes.

I've sang and played music since I was six years old. I play several instruments but am happiest on guitar. I've played in several bands around the Heartland, from D.C. to Tampa, and in Japan. But these days I play less than ever and confine myself to playing alone at home in my mini studio, playing all the necessary parts, and for my own enjoyment.

This page is a work in progress...
